The Imperial HD 7i Twin from Telestar is a versatile twin tuner HDTV free-to-air satellite receiver with some really unique connected features, namely Bluetooth 5.1 audio-transmission, Internet radio, DLNA and SAT>IP function (both server and client).

Many user-friendly functions are included such as an easy-to-use multilingual user interface, EPG, alphanumeric front display, a wide variety of connections including 2x USB and LAN connection show how versatile the compact Imperial HD 7i Twin is. Another highlight is the Bluetooth transmission function, with which you can transmit audio via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth speaker/soundbar or headphones. Performance is maximised when connected to a network with Internet access, Internet radio, SAT IP client and server functionality, a YouTube portal and a weather app can then be used.

Bluetooth 5.1 transmission

A unique feature, which we have not seen on any other satelite recevier in this price range, is the Bluetooth transmission function, with which you can transmit sound via Bluetooth to a Bluetooth speaker, soundbar or headphones. Also really useful for listening to internet radio stations with headphones.

PLEX Integration

Similar to Silicon Dust's HD Homerun dvice for terrestrial transmissions the HD 7i Twin will integrate with Plex for receiving satellite transmissions. The benefit being there are far more of our UK free-to-air channels transmitting in HD quality via satellite than there are via terrestrial (DVB-T). Plex will also download the full Freesat EPG allowing the user to tag programmes for recording.

SAT>IP (referred to as SAT to IP)

Standard satellite distribution over coax is nothing new - multiple users are supplied with digital satellite signals via a multi-LNB or multiswitch, so each user has the full range of channels.

The Imperial HD 7i Twin takes this idea and adds a decisive factor to the possibilities of distributing digital television signals over the home network (LAN) via IP.

Television over the internet known as IPTV is widely used as a means of distributing TV content and films over the web - at least until now.

The HD 7i Twin allows the distribution of digitally broadcasted satellite signals via the home network for viewing on either your SAT>IP or DLNA compatible device such as smartphone, tablet PC, laptop, Android/iOS box, Smart TV or indeed further HD 7i Twin units when used as client machines. The HD 7i Twin will also integrate with a plethora of home multimedia server platforms such as Plex.

The principle of the transmission is very simple: connect the HD 7i Twin to a twin-output LNB or multiswitch, The HD 7i Twin then converts the satellite signals into IP technology in broadcast audio/video quality and sets them for connection to a network router for feeding into a home network.

The converted satellite signals are automatically distributed via LAN and/or WLAN to up to 2 network connections (i.e. users or clients) in the house and received by IPTV-capable devices. The "clients" such as PCs, notebooks, tablet PCs, smartphones (with the appropriate software or app, e.g. VLC Player), IPTV receiver, Android boxes, TV sets or game consoles etc. In the case of DLNA capable devices no such 'App' is needed as the DLNA device will already see the IP transmission by default. Not only that, if supported by the client, additional functions such as the retrieval of teletext and EPG data, recording functions or time-shifted playback (pausing of live TV) can be utilised.

The HD 7i Twin’s on-screen user interface allows the user to customise favourite channel lists making viewing programmes a breeze. A single or twin LNB can be connected giving access to either one or two users respectively.

Please note: When the SAT>IP feature mode is turned 'ON' the HD 7i Twin cannot be used a standard satellite recevier.
